Strothkamp's Paint Center was started in 1956 by Bob and Harry Strothkamp - two brothers that literally grew up in the paint business. Bob and Harry's father was a union painting contractor by trade and his boys learned the paint business by working with him. The original store was in Manchester, MO and started in a house where Bob and Harry grew up - next door to the house their mother was born - built in 1847. They built a new store in 1972 to hold their expanding business and expanded further in the 80s. They recently moved their business to Ballwin.
