Why Concrete habitat™?
• We are a professional organization – In business for 5 years, we specialize in decorative cast concrete. We do not do floors, patios or sidewalks.
• Each individual piece is cast in our facility and is a fully finished product upon installation.
• We utilize a state of the art reinforcement technology, allowing us to offer a 2-year warranty on our product against structural cracking.

Our Technology
• GFRC – Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete - originally developed for large exterior wall panels, we have adapted this technology for decorative applications. ¾” alkaline resistant glass fibers are mixed throughout the product. It is this process that enables us to shatter the myth about cracking. These fibers mixed within the concrete provide tremendous strength and eliminate the possibility of structural cracking.
• Sealer - Our water-based proprietary sealer is what makes our concrete countertops remain beautiful for a lifetime. We tested approximately 25 different sealers before we settled on the one we are currently using. It is thin, it has a matte finish, is highly scratch resistant, and is heat resistant to 400 degrees. In our testing, we applied red wine, lemon juice, olive oil, coffee, balsamic vinegar and several other common kitchen substances, all of which wiped off with no staining. Our sealer never needs to be re-applied and doesn’t require periodic waxing or oiling.

Addressing the Stereotypes:
• Will it crack? Probably one of the first questions that gets asked. The answer is no. Our GFRC, as noted above, consists of millions of ¾” glass fibers mixed within our concrete. Try to imagine what a muddy birds nest might look like. With all of these glass fibers mixed within, not only does it add strength to the concrete, but also there simply is no place for a crack to go. Our concrete surfaces come with a 2-year warranty against structural cracking.
• Will it stain? Concrete by nature is a porous substance. However, our sealer will completely protect the surface from the toughest kitchen items. We have done our own internal testing, but perhaps more importantly, we have hundreds of trouble free installations in both the Residential and Commercial worlds.

Environmentally Friendly:
• We have replaced 25% of our cementious material with a post-industrial recycled material. Recycled decorative glass aggregate is also available, resulting in a higher recycled content of up to 35%.
