Baltimore is a city of about 600,000 people. It is a major port, the home of one of American's top universities and an important technology center. There are many things to see and do in this Maryland city.

1. Historic Ships

The harbor area is home to several old ships that may be toured including the USS Constellation sailing vessel and the USS Torsk submarine. There is a maritime museum at this location as well.

2. National Aquarium

The National Aquarium has three separate viewing areas that contain thousands of sea creatures, birds and reptiles. Dolphin performances are held daily.

3. Baltimore Museum of Art

4. Fort McHenry

This the place that was under attack during the War of 1812 when Frances Scott Key penned the National Anthem. There are many informative exhibits here.

The Walters Art Museum has an impressive collection of art from many periods. The institution is especially noted for its Renaissance and Medieval collections.

6. Maryland Science Center

Located on the harbor, this attraction has an IMAX theatre and a number of educational exhibitions.

7. Edgar Allan Poe Grave and Memorial

Edgar Allan Poe was one of the nation's premier writers. His life and work are commemorated at this location.

8. Maryland Zoo

The Maryland Zoo is a great place to spend a day with the family. Thee are over 1,500 animals on display, and there is a petting zoo for the children.

9. Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Museum

This museum is located inside the oldest railroad station still in existence in the United States. There are many railroad artifacts and old locomotives on display.

10. National Cryptological Museum

This museum displays much information about code breaking and spying. One of the machines used to break the enemies code during World War II is on display.
