While Sacramento is the capital of California, the city life is a lot more modest and quiet than something you would see in Los Angeles or San Francisco. However, there is still a lot of charm to Sacramento. The city is rich in history and is one of the most diverse cities in the entire United States.

1. California State Capital Building

This is where all the political magic happens. The governor signs bills into laws and it isn't uncommon to see protesters or rallies near the building. This is California's political hub. Everything happens here.

2. Old Sacramento

Old Sacramento is almost like stepping into a time machine. Gone are the tall buildings and away with all the noisy cars. Instead, the area transforms into a place where it looks like you could shoot a classic Western movie. There are old-timey shops and saloons. There are even people riding horses.

3. Sleep Train Arena

This is where the popular basketball team, the Sacramento Kings, play. The fans recently broke the record for being the loudest audience. Sacramento natives love their Kings.

4. Sacramento Zoo

While not quite as large as the San Diego Zoo, the Sacramento Zoo is still one of the most popular zoos on the West Coast.

5. The Crest Theatre

The Crest Theatre is a historic theatre that was first opened in 1912. Many different film festivals and art exhibits are held here.

6. The Crocker Art Museum

The Crock Art Museum is the longest continuously operating art museum in the entire west coast. It a huge variety of American and international art exhibits.

7. California State Fair

The State Fair is home to a huge amount of different rides. The fair is also renowned for its interesting food choices. These include deep fried Oreos, deep fried Twinkies, and the fair continues to deep fry interesting foods.

8. California State Railroad Museum

The railroad museum is located right next to Old Sacramento. It is home to a large amount of historic locomotives.

9. Folsom Lake

For those that want to cool off, Folson Lake is a very popular spot for people of all ages. During the summer, it's very common to see people swimming and boating in the lake.

10. Tower Bridge

For those that like landmarks, the Tower Bridge is probably the most popular one in Sacramento. It is a vertical lift bridge that was first constructed in 1911.
